The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have instructed the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) to hold all claims with service dates on or after April 1, 2021. The claims will be held for a short period without affecting providers’ cash flow. The claims are being held in anticipation of possible Congressional action to extend the 2% sequester reduction suspension.
The hold will reduce the amount of claims the MACs will need to reprocess if Congress extends the suspension. If the 2% sequester reduction suspension occurs, the MACs will automatically reprocess any claims paid.
