Medtrade Spring Attracting New Blood

Ron Resnick has seen the challenges mount for HME providers across the country. As president of Blue Chip Medical Products Inc, Resnick believes part of the problem is that too many dealers are simply not aware of how much help is available.

“A lot of dealers do not realize that there are so many resources,” he says. “At Medtrade Spring, just three weeks from now, they can collaborate in a friendly environment. The educational programs are valuable. How do you teach an old dog new tricks? The answer is to practice, learn, and see what is out there at Medtrade Spring.”

The Spring version of the nation’s premiere HME-focused trade show takes place March 10-12 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. “It’s an amazing chance to hear from experts, see all the new products, and learn from dealers in other parts of the country,” says Resnick (pictured). “Medtrade Spring used to be more of a buying show, and now it’s more of an education show. You can’t sit back at home anymore and do the same old thing. Every day there is something new.”

Optimism Fuels More than 75 New Exhibitors at Medtrade Spring
More than 75 exhibitors at this year’s Medtrade Spring will either be new faces or those returning from an absence. Proactive Medical Products is one exhibitor that decided to come back to the Spring version of the nation’s premiere HME trade show.

“It’s time to reconnect with providers,” says Brian Goldstein, vice president, Sales & Marketing, Proactive Medical Products. “Those who come to our booth (#1057) will experience what honest, dedicated, and true customer support is all about—and they will learn about the fastest growing support surface company in the DME arena.”

“We believe Medtrade and Medtrade Spring are the best shows for meeting top decision makers at HMEs across the country,” says Tim Fusco, CEO of TrackAbout (Booth #646). “We see good opportunities to form strategic alliances with other industry leaders. The time is right for HMEs to find new efficiencies to remain competitive in the marketplace. TrackAbout customers see an average of 8% in increased asset rental balances and ROI within a year.”

Andrew Moreno at Ameda Inc (Booth #452) says a confluence of opportunity and government policy motivated him to commit to Medtrade Spring. “The Women’s Healthcare Initiative of the Affordable Care Act mandates that insurance providers promote breastfeeding,” he explains. “The mandate requires them to distribute a breast pump as well as breastfeeding support. Ameda is the original electric breast pump manufacturer, and is still one of the industry leaders. We have a number of product options that DMEs can access to meet the mandate requirements.”

Martin Park, president and owner of Mommy’s Helper Inc (MHI) exhibited his company’s Safe-er-grip line of suction cup balance-assist bars at Medtrade in Orlando, Fla, last year, and had a “terrific” response. The success at Medtrade ultimately led him to sign up for Medtrade Spring.

“As a sign of our commitment to the industry, we are also committed to Medtrade in Atlanta [Oct 20-23, 2014],” adds Park. “We look forward to making the benefits of dealing directly with us available to the many friends and accounts we meet at both Medtrade Spring and Medtrade. Every little way we can help make DME retailers more competitive is an essential part of our growth and survival.”

Amber Yeager, owner of Breathe (Booth #961), is making her first trip to Medtrade Spring because she believes DME providers are looking for products that save them money. “We develop technology that increases employee productivity, which in turn saves them money,” says Yeager. “At the upcoming show, we are showcasing our overnight oximetry iPhone app in the New Product Pavilion. Our iPhone app was developed to provide everything a DME sales rep or clinician needs to perform their job in the field. We have heard from our clients that Medtrade Spring enrollment has consistently been increasing, and they enjoy the smaller show.”

First-time Medtrade Spring exhibitor Scott M. Fried, DO, president of Doctor in the House, looks forward to spreading his considerable optimism about the future of home health care with attendees in Las Vegas.

“Doctor in the House is well positioned to assist these now stronger DMEs that have survived the cut, in taking advantage of this great opportunity through our growing line of new, dynamic and reimbursable products,” says Fried, an orthopedic/hand surgeon. “Our mission is to help patients with patented devices that we develop, test and manufacture to treat orthopedic injuries and problems such as carpal tunnel, RSI, and tendinitis.

“Our new DITH Miracle Splint provides a 50% cure rate for carpal tunnel without surgery, while reimbursing over $400,” continues Fried. “The DITH Splint—PDAC code L3906—will be featured to complement our patented Neck Free Shoulder System (L3960) to help patients heal and avoid surgery.”
Medtrade Spring takes place March 10-12 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
